Brit In Paris

Dating abroad as a British person means your cultural habits travel with you — some of which work brilliantly, some of which land oddly.
What works for Brits abroad: Dry humour (appreciated in Germany, adored in Australia and the US once they get the register). A certain understated reliability. The pub instinct — finding a good local bar is a genuinely universal skill.
What can land badly: Going very quiet when uncomfortable rather than saying something. The reflexive "I'm fine" when clearly not. A certain emotional reserve that reads as coldness before you've warmed up.
Dating in Britain as a foreigner: The reserved British exterior softens significantly after one or two meetings. The pub is a ritual, not a lack of creativity. "We should do this again" without a specific plan often means "I had a nice time" — not necessarily "let's definitely do this again." Pushing for a concrete plan is completely acceptable.
